Illuminated Journaling: Crosshatch Background Tutorial

Image
Finally....a new tutorial! I got a little focused on the book and had to take a little break on creating new content...but now that it is done...I'm BACK! Woo Hoo! This is a fun technique...you will see three different pages that I have used this crosshatch background on. It is a great way to get the words to pop from the page. I've used it on a couple of cards too...but I sent them before I remembered to take a picture. For the cards, I used watercolor paper for the card front and then just popped them on a card blank. Easy peasy! *smile* If you would like to read a sample chapter... click here .

Illuminated Journaling: Paper Piecing and Giveaway!

I have loved the Julie Nutting mixed media dolls since I laid eyes on the first one! I'm sure it is the little girl in me that LOVE playing dress up with her paper dolls...but I could serious use one of her dolls on a project a week and not get tired of them...so you gotta know that I was a bit giddy to find a way to use Zoe on one of my pages in my journaling Bible! I have been working on the content for a College and Career Women's Retreat that I will be teaching in a few weeks. I am excited that we will be doing an interesting combination of in-depth Bible study times and then Illuminated Journaling times inter-mixed. My own journaling comes out of my study times - so will LOVE seeing how God meets with these precious ladies on the pages of their Bibles. But I digress...As I was saying, I have been working on the messages I will be sharing during the study time - and found myself focusing on what it means to have Biblical humility. As a younger woman - I think this is on...

You Are Gonna LOVE: Little Blue Button Stamps

Image
I am honored to get to be a June Release Guest Designer for Olga from Little Blue Button Stamps.  Isn't this the cutest coffee themed set of stamps? You know me and my love of coffee...getting to work with these was just a melding of two of my favorite things...stamping and sipping coffee! The set is called Coffee Love...and in addition to the cute and sassy girl holding a hot cup of coffee, we get coffee and tea  elements that work well together to create all kinds of cards and tags. Two of my favorite sentiments, "Life Begins with Coffee" and "My Blood Type is Coffee"  - and truer words were never spoken...I am such a nicer person in the morning....AFTER I've had my first cup of coffee...ahem...ok .... second! I know you will love Olga's designs too! If you are interested in her rubber stamps you can find them here: on CC Designs website . Her digi stamps are available for download here: on the Little Blue Button Stamps website . ...

Working on my Christmas Cards and creating some goodies to sell at a couple of Fall Craft Fairs. I hope to have some new videos to share soon...but thought I would put a few pictures of some of the cards and card sets I have been working on. I love these blueprint stamps by Tim Holtz. They are perfect for doing the Faux Chalkboard Stamping technique. I have a video that demos that technique - you can watch it here :  These next few sets were a lot of fun to make! I started by embossing watercolor paper...and then used various sprays (Lindy's Starburst stains, Heidi Swapp Colorshine, Dylusion Sprays) to create these colorful splats. I love how bright and fresh these cards turned out. Those Dylusion Sprays are just so fun to work with...and get great results every time! When they had dried - I just did I direct to paper technique with Distress Inks to highlight the embossing. Fun and Fresh...great for any occasion. These next two cards, I have crea...

Christmas Card Series 2013 YouTube Play List Hello my friends! Don't call the men in the white coats just yet...I KNOW it isn't even close to Christmas yet...but one of my goals for this year is to send out only handmade cards...so I am starting now! I thought some of you might want to join me - so I am going to do a mini series - focusing on cards that you can make multiples of fairly easily. Later (much closer to Christmas), I will come back and do a few "special" Christmas projects...gifts, home decor, mini albums and some extra special cards. Even if you aren't ready to join me in my quest to get my Christmas cards done, I hope you will be inspired by some of the techniques I will be sharing with you and you can try them on some other types of cards. Today, I am going to share two techniques. The first is LAYERED Backgrounds - combining a cover plate die with a background that has been texturized (either with an impression plate or an embossing fold...
